1943 Malaya One Cent Bronze George VI Coin
Malaya refers to a number of historical and current political entities that were brought under British control between the late 18th and the mid-20th century. This related to what is currently Peninsular Malaysia and the island of Singapore.
Malaya was one of the most profitable territories of the Empire, being the world's largest producer of tin and later rubber. The Second World War consumed the country. Japan invaded Malaya in 1941, as part of the coordinated attack that started at Pearl Harbor. Malaya and Singapore were under Japanese occupation from 1942 until 1945.
After Japan's surrender at the end of the Second World War, Malaya and Singapore were placed under British Military Administration. The coin was minted at Royal Mint (Tower Hill), London, United Kingdom. The coin is Square with rounded corners and made of bronze.
