This antique 1910's original Canadian lapel pin is from the “Imperial Munitions Board” of Canada. The board was set up to oversee the production of munitions in Canada. One of their duties was to inspect munitions.

The multi coloured enamel on a brass background w/screw done safety clasp. Made in Ottawa, Canada by world famous Canadian jewelers Henry Birks and Sons. Stamped "Birks Ottawa" on the back.

Some history of the Munitions Service Canada was a division of the British Imperial Munitions Board which was formed in 1914, shortly after the start of World War 1.  The aim was to supply munitions to the British forces fighting in Europe. Board established seven "National plants" for the production of explosives and propellants, and one for the manufacture of airplanes.  The Board also oversaw the production of ships and aircraft.
The IMB was dissolved in 1919.
