This tool is considered primitive. The wood frame is a darker brown, and it goes by various names: Buck Saw, Bow Saw, Swede Saw, Farm Saw, and others.  The country of origin is unknown, but we suspect it is the USA.

It is a rough tool for cross-cutting branches or firewood (perhaps up to 6 inches in diameter). This item is in very good shape and sturdy, but it does show its age with scratches, staining on the wood frame, and rusting on the metal. This item is presentable and collectable and would make a wonderful gift to any outdoors person, woodworker, or collector.
